Hartpury University and Animalweb’s Dr David Marlin have initiated a new scientific study aimed at understanding biosecurity practices and perceptions within the UK equine industry. The research, approved by the university’s Ethics Committee, seeks to gather insights from equine industry stakeholders across the country.
Led by Dr. Jane Williams, Tanja Bornmann and Dr David Marlin, the study will explore how UK-based equine professionals perceive biosecurity measures and which practices are currently implemented on equestrian premises nationwide.
“This research is crucial for understanding the current state of biosecurity in our equine industry,” said Dr. Williams. “The findings will help inform future best practices and potentially shape policy recommendations.”
The online survey is open to UK-based equine industry stakeholders aged 18 and above. Participation is voluntary, and respondents can withdraw at any point before submission.
Results from this study may be published and used to guide future research in equine health and safety protocols. The research team encourages all eligible individuals to participate, emphasising the importance of diverse perspectives from across the industry.
