There was plenty to see at BETA International on Sunday, but one of the most inspiring moments for me came not from one of the industry’s established names, but from two of its youngest entrepreneurs.
Taking to the stage to talk about their business, Neigh Tangles, were two young equestrians, aged just 11 and 15, who confidently and expertly shared the story behind their product and their ambitions for the future.
Based in North East Scotland, Neigh Tangles was born from their shared passion for horses and horse care. Their product, Neigh Tangled, is a mango-scented mane and tail detangler designed to leave horses’ and ponies’ hair smooth, conditioned and knot-free.
What really stood out, however, was the way these two young ladies communicated their idea. They explained where the inspiration had come from, how they had developed their product and, most importantly, their ambition to share it with horse owners far beyond their own community.
Standing on stage at one of the equestrian industry’s major trade events and presenting your own business would be daunting for many adults. To see two young people do it with such confidence, enthusiasm and professionalism was genuinely inspiring.
The equestrian industry often talks about encouraging the next generation. On Sunday, we got a glimpse of what that next generation might look like.
If these young entrepreneurs are a sign of the future of our industry, then I think we should welcome that future as quickly as possible.
Neigh Tangled is available from the Neigh Tangles website.
